After a full conservation repaint, the kinetic installation “Cosmos” returned to the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace in Wilanów, where it is now presented on the lower terrace of the palace as a prelude to the second part of my doctoral exhibition “The Birth of Colours”, open to the public in the Orangery from October 27 to November 11.
The kinetic installation “Cosmos” is a spatial, moving form inspired by Jan Heweliusz’s work “Machinae Coelestis.” The object rotates around its own axis under the influence of wind. Selected elements move independently as well. In still air, the installation remains static; in strong wind, it becomes dynamic, shifting direction and tempo. It exists in dependence and co-existence with the forces of Nature.
“Cosmos” was created in 2022 for the exhibition “The Moon and Sobieski’s Shield. Heveliana: Past and Contemporary Art” and was presented from April to August on the upper terrace of the palace.
