In September 2025, I was awarded a KPO Scholarship. KPO SCHOLARSHIPS 2025 – A programme supporting the activities of entities in the cultural sector and creative industries to stimulate their development.
I am continuing an art therapy development programme that I began under the KPO Scholarship 2024.
This year, I focused on the area of body-based work. Among other activities, I completed a Pranayama Teacher Training Course led by Dr Nina Budziszewska and Dr Paweł Posłuszny. The course included both practical and theoretical knowledge in the fields of pranayama techniques and sequencing, the anatomy of breathing, and yoga philosophy.
Why am I interested in breathwork in art therapy practice?
Breathing is a fundamental life function. Incorrect breathing patterns lead to various ailments, while correct breathing helps maintain physical and mental health and balance. Slow and deep breathing regulates stress levels and calms the nervous system.
Pranayama is regarded as the oldest yogic practice, in which the breath is used as a tool for working with energy (prana) and the mind. Pranayama sequences may have a warming and energising effect or a calming and relaxing one. Regular practice lengthens the phases of the breath, calms the mind, and improves concentration. It is a highly effective support in everyday life. For many years, both in my personal development and in my educational and art therapy work, I have observed the fundamental importance of conscious breathing in achieving overall psychophysical well-being.
An important element of my doctoral work and the exhibition “The Birth of Colours” was a series of museum therapy workshops held at the Museum of the Earth of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw (September–December 2023) and at the Orangery of the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace in Wilanów (October–November 2025). During these workshops, I used breathwork, among other methods, as a key component of the sessions.
I invite collaboration in the fields of museum therapy and art therapy.
