It was a great joy to take part on 8 September in the official inauguration and unveiling of my sculpture “Kosmos. Tribute to Hevelius” in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski.
The sculpture was acquired as part of the project “Kosmos. Tribute to Hevelius – Art, Science and Education in the Public Space of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski”, co-funded through the “Sculpture in Public Space – 2026” programme of the Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, with support from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
My sincere thanks to Justyna Łada, Director of BWA Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, for proposing this wonderful location next to the Municipal Cultural Centre – on Women’s Rights Square!
In this place, I also wish to pay tribute to Elisabeth Hevelius – astronomer and Johannes Hevelius’s closest collaborator, who, together with her husband, observed the night sky, carried out precise measurements, worked with astronomical instruments and contributed to the preparation of their observations. After her husband’s death, she not only continued their work but also brought his Prodromus Astronomiae to publication.
May “Kosmos” beautifully revolve on Women’s Rights Square in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski! 💫

The installation “Kosmos. Tribute to Hevelius” was created in 2022 for the exhibition “The Moon and Sobieski’s Shield. Heveliana: Historical and Contemporary Art” at the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów.
